Insure Equality Board Application
Thank you for your interest in joining the Insure Equality (IE) Board of Directors! We’re honored and delighted that you’re considering going on this journey with us. We are accepting applications for our 2023-2024 Board of Directors from October 7 - October 18, 2022.
Start your board application here:
In just one year, our impact stretched to 25 states and Canada with nearly 1,000 individuals, our tech platform phoenix™ won Insurance Business America’s 5-Star Tech Provider for 2022, and we started thousands of conversations about what it means to work in the insurance industry.
We are pumped! Yet, the work continues.
The IE Board is responsible for:
- Networking: Connecting people with the organization’s mission with an interest in partnering on an enterprise level.
- Fundraising: Planning and executing annual fund drives, capital campaigns, or special events.
- Strategic Planning: Establishing goals/KPIs, implementing an annual strategic plan, and evaluating results.
- Public Affairs and Communications: Serving as a spokesperson from time to time for the organization (we all speak for IE).
The IE board requires a two-year commitment and a minimum of three hours of participation a month (including a newly developed mentorship program with our inaugural Junior Board). We have lofty goals as we set out for year two, and we believe you have the potential to take us to the next level.
To do that, we’ve outlined three different levels of commitment you may pursue as an active board member:

Catalyst (3-5 hrs/month) - an agent for change; a spark to set off a chain reaction
- Board Meeting - 1 hr/month
- Committee Meeting - 1-2 hr(s)/month
- Mentorship - 1-2 hr(s)/month
Innovator (4-6 hrs/month) - a trailblazer for creative solutions; a challenge to existing methodology
- Board Meeting - 1 hr/month
- Committee Meeting* - 2-3 hrs/month
- Mentorship - 1-2 hr(s)/month
Pacesetter (8-10 hrs/month) - a leader and an inspiration for others; setting the standard of engagement
- Board Meeting - 1 hr/month
- Committee Meeting* - 2-3 hrs/month
- Leadership Meeting** - 4 hrs/month
- Mentorship - 1-2 hr(s)/month
When you apply, please indicate your level of interest and engagement. We want to honor your capacity and set the stage for our mutual success. Please direct any questions surrounding the application process to Makini Allwood, Board President (makini@insureequality.org).
*At an innovator level of involvement, you’re likely a committee chair or involved in one of our two committees that meet more than once a month
**At a pacesetter level of involvement, you’re part of board leadership (President, Vice President, Treasurer, or Compliance Officer)
